Class Description:
The preschool curriculum focuses on learning through play and developmentally appropriate activities. We believe in the “whole child” approach to learning, where subjects are integrated and cross curricular. The class will have free play to explore different learning centers, such as a math center, a literacy center, role-playing center, science exploration, and an art center. Students will participate in circle time each day, learning about the days of the week, months of the year, the weather, and other appropriate subjects. Children are expected to be toilet trained in this class.
Fine motor skills will be developed through art activities and play. Gross motor skills will be developed through music, games and outdoor play. Early literacy skills, such as holding a book correctly, identifying what an author and illustrator are and listening attentively while the teacher reads stories will be encouraged.
As in the toddler class, there is a focus on social and personal development. Learning to cooperate and share is encouraged through example and positive reinforcement. Preschool is a time of rapid learning and development. Parents are encouraged to participate in all pre-school activities such as field trips, presentations as well as the day to day activities at the school. This participation shows your child that you value them and their education and provides an opportunity for further discussion and learning at home.
Bible stories and songs are part of the religious education at Kids of the Kingdom Day School. Students will learn to value the non-denominational Christian values of love, kindness and forgiveness through stories, songs and example. The students will learn that God loves them and wants them to love others. Each class will participate in a weekly chapel time in the church sanctuary, with Miss Bev, a member of the congregation. Parents are welcome and encouraged to share this special time with the class. The maximum enrollment for the preschool class is 12 students.

Miss Trish:
I started working at Kids of the Kingdom in 2010. I live in Winfield with my husband and two children, both of whom attended this wonderful school. I started my journey here as assistant teacher in the toddler program and worked as head teacher for three years after that. I am currently the assistant teacher in the preschool class. We are a great team. I look forward to meeting your family and starting another successful year!
